Hello, I’m Jenny.
As a Sichuan girl growing up in the amazing food culture of New Orleans, you could say food is in my blood. My love of photography really developed in college and grew as I started to point my camera towards the food that I loved. I am currently a freelance food photographer, stylist, and recipe developer based in Brooklyn. I am partial to moody shadows, rich colors, and exploring the raw beauty of nature’s bounty.
Hello My Dumpling is a 2016 Saveur Magazine’s Blog Awards winning blog. This is my ramblings on the food that I love to eat, usually healthy and always bold. The blog was started when I was in a transitional period of my life last year and has been an amazing place where I can combine my love of photography and food. I was born in Sichuan, China and then spent my formative years in New Orleans. Both these places have deeply entrenched histories where human culture evolved around and along with food. The importance that food plays for people from these two regions is the biggest influence for me. My favorite foods to eat and cook always have long histories of being passed from one generation to another. My recipes draw inspiration from this eclectic background. I am always looking to explore the stories behind dishes and the deep meaning that food memories have for people. Cooking and eating should always be both a beautiful and deeply personal adventure.
